Put simply, “livelihoods” doesn’t just mean a person’s ability to earn a living; it’s about everything that makes an impact on a person’s life. Many people are trapped in a cycle of poverty because they lack even the simplest resources they need to lift themselves out of their situation.
Long-term sustainable solutions to poverty depend on people being able to increase their income, improve their crops and create new sources of food. Something as simple as Apple Trees (€9) can make all the difference. Even when rain is scarce, these trees will flourish providing both nutritious food and an income when sold on.
Or a gift of a Cow (€50), which can be invaluable by providing milk and manure to keep families healthy or in times of emergency can be sold on to provide an income for families to buy more food.
