Giving birth can be dangerous in many poor countries, for both mother and baby. Many women don't have access to a health facility for a safe delivery. However, a birthing kit including bath soap, surgical spirit and a lamp- can help make a delivery safer and more hygienic.

In Sierra Leone rates of death in childbirth are among the highest in the world. The gift of a birthing kit can help new mothers like Salamatu Kamara, who can now give birth in a more hygienic and safer way, therefore reducing the risk of infection and keeping her and her newborn healthy.
